Another Installment

Giants- Basically unless the Giants lose 3 of their last 4 they should not only win their division but be the number one seed in the NFC. They beat the Redskins pretty soundly, in a game that really showed just how balanced the Giants are. They passed well, and really the only reason why the Redskins scored was because of a horrible blown call on a penalty and a trick play. The game next week against the Eagles should be a good one. The Eagles have some momentum following their big win against the Cardinals, but the Giants in Giants Stadium are certainly a bigger task. The Eagles will certainly be playing for their lives, because at 6-5-1 they need a win to stay alive. We'll see if the Giants can win yet another tough game.

Penn State- an excellent performance against Michigan State and of course now PSU will be taking on what looks to be USC in the Rose Bowl. I think this is where they belong, because I do not think they are exactly up to par with the Floridas and Oklahomas of the world. USC is good, but I think Penn State has a great chance of winning this game. Joe Pa's teams always play well in their bowl games and I expect the team to respond big time.

Devils- The winning streak came to an end against the Penguins big time. The Pens dominated from the get go and showed that at this point in time they are the better team. With guys starting to get healthy as long as the Devils can just keep beating the teams that they should beat they should be in decent enough position to still make a playoff run when Marty returns.

Red Sox- not much to say here other than I hope that the Sox do everything in their power to bring Jason Varitek back. He is the captain of this team and he is so good at calling games behind the plate. Maybe his offense has diminished, but he is the leader of this team and one of the reasons why the Sox have had so much pitching success in recent years.

Checkin in

Giants- I am happy with the win, but as this season goes on the suspense is building so much for me.  Really at this point with how they are playing it is Super Bowl win or bust.  Either this is going to end how it "should" or there is going to be a huge letdown in the playoffs.  I think it will be the latter honestly.  It is just too hard to repeat, and when teams get hot going into the playoffs it really becomes a toss up.  With that being said a couple of more wins should lock up home field.  The biggest thing about home field for the Giants is that with the terrible cold and wind in the meadowlands in january it will be hard to pass.  With the Giants fantastic running game it would be a big benefit to have the weather be as bad as possible.

Penn State- So despite the loss to Iowa that took PSU out of the national title game they will get to play in the Rose Bowl, which is my personal favorite bowl, and why?  Because it doesn't have a damn corporate name.  Yes, I know it has a presented by title but at least it isnt called the Chick-fil-a bowl! But anyway, I really hope that Oregon State loses because I would much rather see them play USC.  Even though the nittany lions killed OSU earlier in the season I still do not think they are that good.  It'll be great to watch them regardless of who they play.

Devils- They seemed lost for a while, but they are playing much better.  I know their 4 recent wins were against lower-tier teams, but considering the injuries and regardless, 4 wins in a row are 4 wins in a row.  When guys like Rolston and Holik get back it will really solidify things.  Rolston will help get the PP going, and as long as Scott Clemmensen can come up with a couple of real solid games I think the Devils will be in decent shape by the time Marty comes back.  I do expect them to make the playoffs and be a threat.

Red Sox- Not too much here because I have been way too into Football and hockey to think about offseason baseball.  I do hope they can resign Mark Kotsay, but i doubt they will.  Another starting pitcher is needed becuase keeping Justin Masterson in the pen would be a good thing.  A healthy Beckett along with Lester and Matsuzaka should be good.  I certainly expect them to contend.

I love this time of year because college football has reached it's boiling point, college basketball has begun (although I don't really follow it until January or so) and the NFL and NHL are heating up as well.

So i've decided to start blogging on here.
I am going to update a brief on each of my teams when I can. Feel free to agree or yell at me.

Big Blue Corner:
Giants 35, Cowboys 14. I don't care how injured the Cowboys are, as a Giants fan no matter what the circumstances that is a very pleasant sight. There were certainly positives to take away, such as the pressure by the d-line and the excellent tackling. There were also some negatives, mainly Eli not getting into rhythm all that much, which may have been because of the pressure the Cowboys put on him. Now I know they are 7-1, but next week is HUGE. Why? well if the Giants win, the Eagles will be 5-4, and the Giants will be 8-1. If the Skins lose tomorrow night it will make things a lot easier. All I can say is, for the sake of winning the division 8-1 will be much better than 7-2. Not to mention I always love beating the Eagles.

The State of Penn State:
PSU was idle this week, and of course they get passed by Texas Tech in the BCS. Now, Penn State does have to win out and hope that either Texas Tech or 'Bama loses, but I just smell a controversy coming. If Florida runs the table and beats a #1 Alabama team in the SEC title game, I could really see them being passed by Florida to say the least. Iowa will not be a push over, as they have a good defense and a solid running game. Will Penn State be stale after their idle week and the hangover from the Ohio State win? More later in the week.

Fire on Ice:
When Marty Brodeur left during the Devils 6-1 win over the Thrashers it really put a damper on a great win by the Devils who desperately needed to get back on track following their losses to philly and toronto. Hopefully he will be back later in the week, because too much time without him, along with Greene, Holik and Rolston shelved is not a good thing. Zack Parise has been incredible so far this season, as he has really come into his own.

Let's talk about Sox:
This offseason shouldn't be too eventful for the Red Sox. They have some depth issues that they would probably like to address, and also could benefit from either another starting pitcher, or some more bullpen help. Justin Masterson could certainly make his way back into the rotation, as he was originally slated to be a starter. A rotation of Beckett-Lester-Matsuzaka-Masterson-
Wakefield would not be such a bad thing. Who knows with Clay Buchholz at this point. The thought of losing Jason Varitek is very hard, and I hope he either resigns or retires. He is our captain, and is an incredible pitch caller. He will be a manager someday. So there are some thoughts on my teams. I plan to just give some quick thoughts and opinions when I can about my teams.
